Updated: Oct 25, 2023

As World Entrepreneur's Day approaches, let's take a moment to marvel at the inspiring Southeast Asian entrepreneurs who have breathed new life into Europe's vibrant markets. They've brought fresh, innovative businesses to the table, shaking up the status quo across a range of industries.

Take, for instance, the story of Grab, the trailblazing ride-hailing app from Malaysia. The brainchild of Anthony Tan and Tan Hooi Ling, Grab is a sterling example of how Southeast Asian entrepreneurship is influencing the European business landscape. Not just content with conquering their home market, Anthony and Hooi Ling embarked on the ambitious journey to establish Grab's presence in Europe, navigating unfamiliar terrains and cultural nuances with grace and determination. And it's safe to say their hard work has paid off, with Grab now a well-recognized name in many European cities.

Then there's the delightful tale of Saiphin Moore and her London-based Rosa's Thai Cafe, a love letter to authentic Thai cuisine. Along with her husband Alex Moore, Saiphin transformed a humble market stall in London’s Brick Lane into a beloved chain of Thai restaurants. Saiphin's journey wasn't all plain sailing - sourcing authentic ingredients and adjusting her traditional recipes for a diverse European palate posed a unique set of challenges. But her commitment to sharing a piece of her home through her cooking has seen Rosa’s Thai Cafe grow into a name synonymous with Thai cuisine in the UK.

As we get ready to raise a toast to World Entrepreneur's Day, let's shine a spotlight on these awe-inspiring stories and the invaluable contributions Southeast Asian entrepreneurs have made to Europe.
